July 2008 – What a wonderful month it has been, the Chernobyl Children greeted us at Gatwick with waves and huge smiles, the five new ones hanging back just a little.

The returning children looked so confident and the improvement to their health was immediately obvious. Igor, aged 9, lives with his Granny and his two brothers in a wooden house. Granny has written to me to tell me how much better Igor’s health has been this winter as a result of last summer’s visit and the year’s supply of vitamins provided to the whole family. His granny wrote about how well the vegetable seeds that we sent are doing, seed quality is a big problem in Belarus. In spite of severe arthritis, she grows most of their vegetables in the contaminated soils around their home. This last month Igor and his friends have had the chance to eat fresh safe food, breathe clean air and have huge amounts of fun, thanks to many people in our community. What a joy to see so many pull together to provide this opportunity for the Chernobyl Children. Thank you.
