Deeping Parish Council News

February 28, 2009 · 1 comment

The Parish Council has contacted Peterborough City Council (PCC) regarding Lincoln Road (leading to Market Deeping from the Maxey/ Northborough roundabout) which was made into a 40 mph speed limit, this is constantly ignored and the Police have been out monitoring motorists speeds.
The parish council feel that the sign for 40 mph is too small and have forwarded the following suggestions:-
 1. Flashing Sign to remind drivers they are entering a new speed zone.(new ones have recently been installed at Peakirk)
 2. Large 40 mph painted signs on the road surface.
3 Rumble Strips (suggested by Mark Delaine-Smith of Delaine Buses)
The parish council are also in contact with PCC regarding the bus stop on this road which several residents had complained about - tragically, a young girl died at this spot in December. Several other people have contacted PCC regarding this subject since then, and this ongoing at the time of writing.

Dear Residents,

You may have seen an increase in police presence along Lincoln Rd targetting speeding motorists?

The Neighboourhood Intervention Team have been out in this area in partnership with your local Neighbourhood Policing Team - myself and Pcso7102 Whittaker to enforce the 40mph restriction here.

A number of Fixed Penalty Tickets have been issued at a cost of £60 and 3 penalty points.

I have been told that somewhere in the region of 50-60 motorists have been fined for some excessive speeding.

We will continue to monitor this situation and hope that we can drive the speed down to reduce the chance of accidents and the potential for loss of life.
