New roof for Helpston Tennis Club

by Tony Henthorn on December 14, 2010

tennis-club-for-webHelpston Tennis club have received a Biffaward for funding via the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts to replace the outer roof covering. Due to the exposed position of the clubhouse repairs to the felt have been a regular requirement. With the funding we have been able to have fitted high performance green mineral felt shingles which will hopefully give us many years service as well as looking smart. The committee would like to thank the Langdyke Trust, the Parish Council, John Clare School and the Village Hall  for their support, without which, our application would not have been successful.

The work was carried out by J S Chapman, who we would also like to thank for their advice and work on this project. This now gives us a  building to be proud of and a facility that hopefully more local people will want to use. We have an ongoing aim of improving club facilities and with that in mind are looking to replace our kitchen units and sink as well as fold up chairs and tables. So if anyone is having a new kitchen fitted or changing outdoor furniture we would be pleased to here from you regarding the items to be replaced. 2010 has been an excellent year for club partly due to good weather on club nights and weekends. It has been well attended on Sunday mornings and we have had a record number of juniors for free training on their club nights.I would personally like to thank everybody who has supported this club this season including the committee who have worked hard to promote our village facility.
