Every business owner knows there is always someone willing to do it cheaper! We’ve been serving the local community since 1999 and, during this time, we have built a strong, loyal readership with our unique content.
Our readers tell us they look forward to receiving the Village Tribune through their letterbox – our readers trust what they see, and our advertisers benefit as a result. “You get what you pay for” is truly the applicable adage when it comes to marketing and advertising for the growth of your business.
Any new customer booking a (minimum) 4-issue series of adverts will receive a 50% discount on the first 2 adverts. To be eligible for this discount, new advertisers will have to pay the full amount of the campaign in advance of the first advert appearing.
No, one of the founding principles of the Village Tribune was (and is) to clearly identify the difference between editorial and advertising content – a feature which differentiates us from many of the local ‘ad mags’.
No – there is no VAT to pay.
Invoices are issued (by email) once each magazine is sent to press. Customers then have 28 days to make payment. New advertisers will initially be asked to pay in advance of the magazine being printed.

If we are making your advertisement, we need a full brief before the 1st of the month. By a brief we mean all the wording, images/logos, colour/font preferences. Plus, any style requirements or a sample of a previously used advertisement.
New advertisements are made in the first 7-10 days of the month. A proof will be emailed to you for comments/approval. We will make changes/alterations within reason until you are fully satisfied with your artwork, but we do ask that you supply a thorough brief in the first instance.
You are welcome to update your advertisement each month
We prefer a high-resolution jpeg or pdf (minimum 300 dpi). Advertisement sizes can be seen on here. You are welcome to update your advertisement each issue. We will send an email reminder approximately 3 week3 before our copy deadline.
Yes, a single sheet (double sided) A5 sized can be inserted into the magazine. Please see our ‘Advertising Page’ on this site for costs (click here)
If you are supplying leaflets, we will need them by 16th of the month prior to the issue month your inserts are to be distributed.
Finished size of leaflets should be no more than B5. If your leaflets are A4 then we need them folded to A5 prior to receiving them. Thickest paper weight, even when folded, should be no more than 300GSM (postcard weight).
Please contact us if you are unclear about paper sizes and weights. Sadly, if we receive leaflets which are outside our parameters, then we will be unable to deliver them. We cannot offer refunds for unused distribution.
A separate document with contact details for our distribution points will be sent nearer the time.
This depends on several factors. It can take a couple of inserts to see a return. However, if there is a demand for your products/services in the local area, there is no reason why it won’t work. Your advertisement should look professional and be timely. We have many customers who use the Trib exclusively in the area and many business which have advertised with us for many years.
Advertising doesn’t always work instantly, it requires an amount of patience, persistence, and a budget!. Your potential customers, on average, need to be exposed to your advertisement at least four times before they will trust and commit to purchasing your product or service.
Our discerning customers spend their advertising budget wisely, by advertising consistently over a long period of time (usually 6 or more months). Sometimes this means they book a smaller advert just so they can stay in the magazine for longer.

Choosing the best format for your brand or business depends on your goals. For some, social media and Google ads, although they can be costly, are the best platform to use for instant responses and results, while many other companies find more value in print ads. The benefit of using print as an advertising medium is that it is a tangible and emotive experience for consumers.
Research has shown that most social media users are under the age of 35, so that limits you to a very small age bracket, whilst homeowners who use and read our magazines tend to be aged 35+. Is this age group your target audience? One of the advantages of print is that it can reach a much broader group of people, especially the over 55’s, silver-grey market.
However, if your budget allows, using both formats can help increase your traffic and broaden your company’s horizons, especially when done strategically. The best thing that you can do is define your target audience and then go from there.

The Trib’ was established over 25 years ago to provide news, views and unique content for the 12,500 residents in our ‘Tribland’ villages. We run paid-for advertising to cover the costs of the design and print of each edition. The magazine is a Limited Company – The Village Tribune Limited
We are a trusted magazine that people engage with. The Tribune has a long shelf-life because people hold onto them to refer back to for things like the community noticeboard, competitions and puzzles, the ‘What’s On’ events and of course the insightful features and community stories! They like to dip in and dip out of our magazines and sometimes pass them on to family and friends.
We are always delighted to receive editorial contributions be they diary dates, features about local groups. Please email your content to: villagetribuneeditor@me.com.
We cannot always print every submission, and some articles may be reduced in size, but we endeavour to publish every contribution either in the magazine of on the website.
Over the years, we have had many individuals (and groups) support the Tribune by way of contributing articles, proof-reading pages selling advertising space and delivering in our villages. If you would like to be part of the team please contact publisher Tony Henthorn: tonyhenthorn@icloud.com – we would also love to hear from readers who might want to suggest topics or themes for future magazines.
